Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, WB Launches Academic, Training and Research Activities in ‘Telemedicine and Digital Health’

Kolkata, November 08, 2021: It is a great pleasure for The Centre for Collaborative Programs, Training and Research of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), WB to announce the launching of Academic, Training and Research Activities in the domain of “Telemedicine and Digital Health”. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra launched the Programs on the 8th of November, 2021 at Hotel Indismart, Saltlake.

The Programs will be conducted under the aegis of Centre for Collaborative Programs, Training and Research, MAKAUT, WB.  (CCPTR, MAKAUT, WB.). The objective of the Centre is to bestow high quality teaching learning practices and specific professional skill sets to the students, expand the student base of the University, use the pooled resources of the collaborating organizations in a synergistic manner so as to help the University elevate its academic standards, foster quality professional education in West Bengal and enhance employment opportunities, all to be done as per the quality mandate prescribed by different academic/statutory/Government bodies for the greater interest of the students. In it’s endeavor to spread quality education enhancing employability, collaboration has been established across Bankura, Darjeeling, East Burdwan and Birbhum besides Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, Nadia etc. The hallmark of this Centre is sustained and vigorous research activity in cutting edge areas of technology, science and management with a strong focus on societal and industrial needs.

The program, ‘B. Sc. In Telemedicine and Digital Health’, will be conducted in collaboration with Shantiniketan Paramedical College, Bolepur (A Unit of Swadhin) and Burdwan Institute of Modern Studies, East Burdwan (A Unit of Oriental Association for Education & Research).

It was the long-cherished dream of the University to moot and finally establish academiccourses on telemedicine and digital health. It would follow the inter-disciplinary and intra-disciplinary approaches in the variegated domains of medical treatment and health analytics. It will welcome the superior participation, guidance and mentorship of a wide plethora of clinical experts, medico-technologists, and information scientists.

Digitalized healthcare system can specially take care of the ageing population in India. The COVID-19 pandemic has already proved the importance of telemedicine and digital health. Digitized Healthcare system always has innovative ways for monitoring personal data for self-management. It will enhance the access to healthcare, reduce cost and make arrangements for smart-care in a homely environment.

MAKAUT looks forward to give a fillip to this modern healthcare system through its initiative in academics and research in this field.
