The unveiling ceremony of the books – Bangladesh @ 50 – authored by Maj (Retd) A S M Shamsul Arefin and – Bangabandhu For You – edited by Satyam Roy Chowdhury was held at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata yesterday.
The publications were carried out as a token to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh Independence and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh – India diplomatic relationship.
Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Govt.of Bangladesh Shahriar Alam attended the event as the Chief Guest. Humayun Kabir was present on the occasion as the honorable guest. Prof Sabyasachi Basu Roy Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor, Rabindra Bharati University, Dr. Shri Radha Datta, senior fellow, Vivekananda international foundation, and Manash Ghosh, Bangladesh Mukti juddho Moitry award-winning journalist was also present as the special guests.
Earlier, Shahriar Alam delivered a speech on ‘50 years of the Independence’ at a local university.
Eminent film director Gautam Ghosh who is also the President of the ‘Friends of Bangladesh’, presided over the activities of the event.
