Prithibi releases their puja song Shohorer Gaan
Pujo song ‘Shohorer Gaan’ of noted Bangla band ‘Prithibi’ has been released recently on their official YouTube Channel in association with JSE Events. The song was composed by the frontman of the band Koushik Chakraborty, for a Bengali film in 2009. But as the film got shelved the band plans to release the same with the current reincarnation line-up during pujas. In addition to the audio format of the song, a different kind of music video or so-called musical short has already been shot by Prithibi which is directed by Koushik himself. The three main characters are played by Samarpita Chanda, Dipanwita Sinha, Aritra Mukherjee. Soumalya Mallick is the Assistant Director while Shubham Chakraborty is the Director of Photography. The rest of the band members are Aniruddha Mandal, Arunanshu Bagchi, Gobinda (Deep) Ghosh, Debangshu Bhattacharya and Deepayan Maitra have all put together a great music arrangement for this song and the impression of impeccable performance throughout the song. The story of the musical short can be seen as a picture of the tension and transition of a relationship that revolves around the city of our soul, Kolkata. The city also gives back what it took away at some point and that is the theme of this musical short.
Jonai Singh, a resident of faraway America who has been supporting Bengali music in exile for the last twelve years, has stood by the world in such a fundamental work. She and her JSE Events have been promoting lots of Bengali artists and original music over the years. On the other hand, Koushik’s student Debarpan Guha, who lives in far-flung Germany, has come to the side of this project in love at a time when both the artist and the industry are in deep crisis.
Koushik Chakraborty said,”Our band has dedicated this song to women all over the world on the eve of Mahalaya. Hope all you like our musical initiative.”
