All professionals or newcomers ,Musicians and Artistes be it a Singer, An Arranger, A Conductor, A reed Player, A wind Instrumentalist, Pianist, Keyboardist, Guitarist or even A Percussionist ,Aural Skill is the greatest hidden treasure in musicology.
Though it is said Sight Reading skill and Aural Skill can unitedly enhance the arsenal of a Music Warrior.
But to me ‘Ear’ is the Triggering key.
What happens when the light goes off? And the show is on?
So ,Growing Ear Skill is a must. One should go through a proper ear training course.No wonder Grooming through Ear training and ‘Gurumukhi’ had been the practice here.
Teaching and learning from basics must include Ear Training course of any Gharana or Institute which helps a performer in identifying Pitches, Intervals, Chords, Caldense of notes, Rhythms, etc.
Improvisation or solo playing for any creative artiste be it a vocalist or an instrumentalist can only be composed and performed instantly if Ear Skill is achieved to perfection through the inner feel of highness.
