Alapan Banerjee will be Chief Adviser to the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from 1st June 2021
Ex-Chief Secretary West Bengal Mr. Alapan Banerjee IAS, who retired gracefully today from the post of Chief Secretary amid controversial transfer to center posting order. New Chief Secretary Harikrishna Dwivedi will replace him.
As the Chief Secretary, he registered his dignified, silent protest against the sudden transfer order issued by the central government as described by the CM Mamata Banerjee, while praising him for his outstanding long service to the nation. To showcase her supreme command over her team of Bengal administrators, she offered a new post to Mr. Alapan Banerjee as “Chief Advisor to CM” for the next 3 years instead of 3 months central Extension order.
“Alapan will henceforth act as the Chief Adviser to the Chief Minister. “We want him in this COVID-19 Pandemic time,” said Mamata. “Alapan is working for the poor, the weak, the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the minorities of the State, the country. She also told arrogant Central Government did not reply to my letter, which is damaging to the federal structure of the nation. He will enjoy 2.5 Lakhs INR per month as salary along with all the benefits entitled for an IAS officer”
Sometimes we need to follow the social mutual respectful execution of duties, even if there is a difference of opinion in the greater interest of the country. At any point in time example of disrespect from centre or state government to each other is only damaging the healthy democracy and not at all good a time like this.
