INAUGURATION OF COVID RECOVERY-CUM-ISOLATION CENTRE AT ER’S MAJERHAT SPORTS COMPLEX

Shri S. P. Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Eastern Railway (ER), Sealdah inaugurated a COVID recovery-cum-isolation centre at ER’s Majerhat Sports Complex today. Dr. Rudrendu Bhattacharya, Principal Chief Medical Director, ER was also present on the occasion.In the COVID recovery-cum-isolation centre less complicated COVID cases will be treated.

Total 40 beds are provided at COVID recovery-cum-isolation centre. There are provisions of oxygen cylinders and oxygen concentrators. In this COVID recovery-cum-isolation centre, COVID patients with mild COVID symptoms will be treated. Patients recovering from COVID infection at B R Singh Hospital will be shifted to Majerhat for final recovery & discharge.

There will be provisions for tea, coffee, breakfast, meals & mineral water for the patients at the centre. Doctors, nurses & paramedical staff will be available on 24X7 basis. There is one dedicated ambulance service also round the clock. All required medicines will be available at the centre. With the upsurge of the COVID patients affecting millions of people of the country, Railways is no exception to it and during this critical time, B R Singh Hospital of Eastern Railway has come up with all sorts of facilities for the treatment of COVID patients.

There is an increase in the number of beds with oxygen pipeline at the B R Singh Hospital. An additional CCU will be functional in the shortest possible time. Specialist doctors, nurses & paramedics were engaged on an emergency basis. Electronic gadgets were provided in different wards for communication of relevant information to the relatives of the patients. A new oxygen plant having a capacity of 13,000 litres will be installed very soon. An RTPCR Lab will be functional shortly. Moreover, in an endeavour to provide more effective treatment, there is sufficient stock of essential medicines including Remdisivir injection.
