What Congress High Command Sonia Gandhi failed to understand the value of a leader who is well connected with the soil turned to be the BJP’s fortune as Himanta Biswa Sarma left Congress and joined BJP.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his approval for Mr Sarma’s elevation, and it was seconded by the BJP MLAs in no time.
The BJP won a crucial second straight term in the recently concluded assembly polls in the state, with AGP as an alliance.
This is the first time in Assam an Ex-Congress leader got true respect and post according to his contribution to the party other than the old BJP and RSS teammates. BJP depends on the organizational skills of Himanta Biswa Sarma to win 25 Loksabha seats from North East. Also, the other six states always influenced by the Assam politics will have an impact in future state elections too.
