BERGER PAINTS CELEBRATES ‘PRIYO PUJO’ IN A RESPONSIBLE MANNER

~Berger Paints rejoices the spirit of the festivity with compassion~

Kolkata, 22nd   October, 2020: Berger Paints India Limited, the 4th largest paint company in Asia, with its headquarter in Kolkata & among other places has two manufacturing units in Bengal  has always had strong connect with the state, its people & culture. Berger Paints has a long standing association with the The Festival of Durga Puja through its very popular Berger Priyo Pujo campaign and hence does understand what it means to the people of Bengal. This year in the so called new normal Durga Pujo is also happening differently; thus Berger Paints took this strong yet meaningful decision even before the hustle bustle of the festivity began to abstain from the activity of running a contest (where citizens can elect their favorite ‘Berger Priyo Pujo’ )

Berger Paints has always been extremely responsible and hence they changed their competitive theme to a theme of seeking wellbeing for all to make the festivities safe & more joyous. Though the real fun and enjoyment of a normal durga pujo cannot be replaced by digital activities but Berger Paints has taken a humble yet intelligent step to bring the essence of the durga pujo festival to your home digitally considering these testing times.

With the recent high court rules coming into effect Berger Priyo Pujo would now bring the joy of festivity to the comfort of your homes. Now you can view your favorite pujo pandals in 3D; carry on with the rituals by witnessing an Astami Anjali live from various pujo pandals through the Berger Priyo Pujo website. Thatts not all; Berger Paints portrayed the journey of Maa Durga from the narrow lanes of Kumortuli to the glamourous pandals. The Kumortuli time lapse video is a masterpiece in its own way which is now available on YouTube and the Berger Priyo Pujo website (www.bergerpriyopujo.com). They made 5 beautiful videos on select districts of Bengal where each holds the festive message in the most unique poetic way narrated by Bratati Bandyopadhyay and Parambrata Chatterjee. These videos have been scripted by the famous poet Srijato and music has been arranged by Indraadip Dasgupta. People can log into Berger Paint’s website and virtually see all the fun and excitement of the festivity.

With the new thought to make Berger Priyo Pujo safe yet joyful for all; they created a new Pujo Anthem featuring Shaan and Somlata making it really soulful. Berger Paints truly felt that the essence of Pujo would be different this year and hence they consciously stitched elements which would appeal to every citizens of Bengal.

Apart from the celebrations and Durga Puja campaign, Berger Paints never ignored the Safety and sanitization of the city. Berger Paints installed unique sanitization stations across Bengal which can be used by Pujo committee members and their families who are allowed in the mandap area. These sanitization stations are unmanned and automated which has a capacity of catering to people’s hand sanitization needs to protect the people inside the mandap area.

In the honor of unsung heroes of our society, the migrant workers and painter community, Berger Paints selected a section of these workers who are involved with color. Berger Paints collaborated with various Pujo Committee members and handed them some packets full of love & blessing which would add some meaning and joy to their families in these unprecedented times. This year is not about any competition or judgement, Berger Paints felt responsible and so this was more an act of extending the festive spirit among people who are deprived out of it every year. Berger also visited young children living in orphanage and they spend some happy moments with them.  The happiness and joy it brought would surpass all earthly happiness. Their joy was not in receiving new clothes or sweets but the fun times which they got after being confined for so many days.

On this occasion Mr. Abhijit Roy, MD and CEO of Berger Paints expressed, “This year is different and hence celebration will also be different. We all have accepted and welcomed the world digitally. Berger Paints has always considered the well-being of the individual without compromising on the happiness of an individual. We are delighted that we will continue Berger Priyo Pujo this year and make this year more special and memorable by implementing some simple steps to add joy and happiness in the lives of our real heroes. Organizing any competition and on ground activities would make people unsafe. We on behalf of Berger Paints request you all to stay at home and enjoy viewing top pujo pandals, Ashtami Anjali & many other attractions through our website without compromising on your safety.”
