Durga Puja is one of the most important festival of Bengalees and celebrated grandly across the globe. Bangalore is also not the exception in that case. Bangalore is now the home for more than 13 lakh Bengalees living in the city and more than 120 Pujas are organised across Bangalore. This year the oldest Durga Puja of Bangalore, The Bengalee Association Ulsoor is celebrating its 70th Year and will be celebrated in a traditional way in its premise. Same like Kolkata, Theme concept is also getting very popular in Bangalore and many such Durga Puja associations are creating such interesting themes. This year the theme for The Bengalee Association Puja is old Jamindar House Durga Puja. Jurassic Park is the theme for Jayamahal Durga Puja which is also one of the oldest Durga Puja in Bangalore. RT Nagar Sarbojanin’s this year theme is artificial Cave temple and Jagriti Bongio Samaj Association is going to display all old instruments like Tape Recorder, Cassettes and all such things which this generation never seen. This year Whitefield Cultural Association is going to display all artworks and other related documents of Oscar Winner Famous Bengalee Film Director Satyajit Ray. Bengalis in Bangalore of BTM Layout is going to have LGBT as their theme for social awareness. New associations like Aarohan – A Socio Cultural Forum (ASCF) of Whitefield, Hormavu Bengali Cultural Association of TC Palya and Purva Panaroma Durga Puja Committee of Bannerghatta are celebrating Durga Puja for the first time.

On this grand festival, Bongio Samaj Bengaluru, the largest Bengalee Organisation of South India is organizing most prestigious Award, Sharod Samman Award in association with Total Environment to recognize the hard work and effort of all those Puja Committees for making this festival grand. Bongio Samaj Bengaluru is not only going to provide award for best Pujas, Themes and Ambiance but this year Bongio Samaj Bengaluru will also award those associations who does lot of giving back program throughout the year for betterment of the society as part of their social activities. Bongio Samaj Bengaluru is also organizing free Puja Parikrama for general public where free buses will run across the city and visit various Puja Pandals. “This is an unique activity we are doing in Bangalore for all with an objective to integrate with local community and enjoy this festive season together in grand way”, said Sandeep Shome, General Secretary Organisation of Bongio Samaj Bengaluru.  “We are not only organizing Sharod Samman event and Puja Parikrama, our hundreds of volunteers are joining hands with Bangalore Traffic Police during Dashami day for crowd management and help to have smooth, accident free visharjan in Ulsoor Lake. Ambulance and team of doctors will be available on site in case of emergency” said Sourav Mukherjee, President of Bongio Samaj Bengaluru. On this festive occasion, Shri Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister of Chemical and Fertiliser also sent his best wishes to all Bangalee associations of Bangalore North Constituency.
