To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Chinese Consulate-General in Kolkata held a National Day Reception from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Bengal State Room of ITC Sonar Bengal.
In the keynote speech, Consul General Zha Liyou introduced us with remarkable achievements of the People’s Republic of China in the past 70 years and updates on China-India relations and sub-national relationships between China and East India.
Mr. Alapan Bandhopadhay, Honorable Additional Chief Secretary, Home & Hill Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal attended and spoke at the reception on behalf of the Government of West Bengal as the Chief Guest.
Hundreds of members on behalf of the Chinese communities and Chinese Enterprises were present at the event. Notable foreign diplomats and known faces were also a part of the guest including Bruce Bucknell, Consul-General of the United Kingdom in Kolkata, Jurgen Thomas Schrod, Deputy Consul-General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kolkata and Andrew Ford, Australian Consulate-General were some of the notable names.
The Traditional Chinese Lion dance was performed to raise the pomp and colour of the event, along with the traditional drum music playing along.
