Kolkata: Sultan Ahmed a popular minority leader and Trinamool Congress MP died on Monday in Kolkata due to sudden cardiac attack. He was immediately brought to Kolkata’s Belle Vue Clinic hospital but later in the day he passed away.
Mamata Banerjee expressed her deep condolence to her long associate and said . “Shocked and deeply saddened at the passing of Sultan Ahmed sitting @AITCOfficial LS MP and my long term colleague. Condolences to his family,” she tweeted on Monday morning.
Ahmed was one of the 12 Trinamool leaders accused in the Narada sting case.
In the sting video shot by Narada News CEO Mathew Samuel in 2014, Ahmed was seen accepting cash.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate have already made interaction with Late Sultan Ahmed in this connection but nothing was proved till date.
He was also the Vice-Chairman of Haj Committee of India.
