Master stroke by Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar made him the BJP CM of Goa; in a late evening development on Sunday, Governor Mridula Sinha of Goa set Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar who is the leader of Bharatiya Janata legislative party as Chief Minister of Goa.
In a Raj Bhavan communication released late on Sunday said that Mr. Parrikar got support of 21 MLA as evidence before governor support includes 13 MLAs of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), 3 MLAs of MGP, 3 MLAs of Goa Forward and 2 independent MLAs, thus having a total strength of 21 MLAs for majority in the House of 40.
The Governor has asked CM to prove his majority on the floor of the House in a legislative assembly session within 15 days of administration of oath of office and secrecy.
Mr. Parrikar will resign as Defence Minister before he takes oath as Chief Minister as sources said early on Sunday.
