End of Legal wines shops around highways of India – Apex Court disallowed any liquor shop beside roads of Indian National and State Highways.
No more Liquor shops will not be available on highways from April 2017 as per Supreme Court order released today. Even the old shop’s license will not be renewed anymore.
At least 500 meters distance to be maintained from state and national highways as directed by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur adding to the pain of the dealers the judges also ordered that liquor banners and ads be removed from these spots.
The orders have to be implemented by the Chief Secretary and police chiefs of states on a proactive basis.
A real good cause for the society to reduce crime and accident along Highways but how far this will be implemented as illegal shops and middleman will enjoy the extra income. A another look needs to be poured in as law and order may be at stake due to raise in the illegal peddlers in those areas.
