1. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi unveiled the Roll On Trophy for the BRICS U-17 Football Tournament in an exclusive Ceremony held at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi today. The Tournament is scheduled to be held at Goa from the 5th to 15th October. An Initiative of the Indian Government, the Tournament aims at creating a fresh opportunity for exchange amongst the BRICS Nations, with the youth interacting on the field of sports. The Tournament will facilitate the nurturing of a lasting understanding, and friendship amongst the youth of these countries. It is likely to be a harbinger of similar exchanges in other sports disciplines too.

Shri Vijay Goel, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent Charge), in his introductory remarks, said that the Trophy symbolises the free and enterprising spirit of youth and the strength and commitment of the BRICS Nations towards solidarity in their global endeavours. The Tournament symbolises the Nation’s commitment to ‘Sports for All’. Shri Goel spoke of the Prime Minister’s objective of taking football to every corner of the Country.
