Orion Edutech, India’s Leading Skill Development Company inaugurated India’s first Model Skill Development Training Centre “PRADHAN MANTRI KAUSHAL KENDRA (PMKK)” at Barasat.
It was inaugurated by MP Dr.Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar as Chief Guest and District Magistrate Mrs. Antara Acharya along with other representatives from NSDC, local administration, Industry Partners and Media. More than 1,500 unemployed youth attended the event for enrollment.
It is an initiative of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship & NSDC. This Centre is spread in an area of 10,000 sqft and target is to provide training & employment to 9,000 candidates in 3 years in 7 Job roles in various sectors– Apparel, Beauty, Health Care, Construction, Electronics and Telecom. Orion will provide Short Term Skill training for 10-12 weeks and providing employment / self employment opportunities to School/College dropout and unemployed youth and women under PradhanMantriKaushalVikashYojna. Training will be completely free of cost and subsidized by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. Assessment will be done by respective Sector Skill Council and Candidate will get certificates from NSDC.
Vocational training needs to be made aspirational to transform India into the skill capital of the world. In line with the same, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) intends to establish visible and aspirational model training centre’s in every district of the country.
