President Pranab Mukherjee’s convoy had an accident when one of the vehicle met with an accident on the way to Bagdogra Airport from Darjeeling hills on Friday.
One of convoy unit carrying six security personnel lost control and jumped from the hill road and went down a deep in a gorge.
“Car in President’s c arcade from Darjeeling to Bagdogra goes off road, minor injuries to security personnel; #PresidentMukherjee safe,” the President tweeted.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s convoy was following president’s convoy, immediately got down from the vehicle helped security personnel oversee the rescue to ensure safety of the people .
“Dada you don’t worry. All of them are alive. We have dropped ropes… One person has come up,” Ms. Banerjee told the President over telephone. The accident occurred near Sonada.
The President was on a three day visit to Darjeeling hills.
